The hospitality sector and other issues related to it are examined in this Unit 12 Assignment on the Hospitality Industry. Along with other other notions of the hospitality provisions, the relationship between the hospitality provision and the travel and tourism industry has been discussed. Discussion is held regarding the effects of various integration tactics and integration kinds. Additionally identified are the impacts of various integration types on the hospitality industry. By analysing the target market of the chosen organisation, the justification for a chosen project is produced. This paper also discusses many operational criteria for businesses in the hospitality sector.
Task 1
1.1Discuss the interrelationships between hospitality and wider travel and tourism businesses
Hospitality is the idea of providing visitors and guests with a variety of services and a friendly demeanour. As different guests have varied needs, hospitality is linked to several departments and talents to fulfil the clients or guests. The management of any hospitality organisation should guide its staff members toward the higher quality service offerings if they want to succeed in the hospitality industry. Various services fall under the umbrella of the hospitality industry. (2012) Medlik Accommodations coupled with additional leisure amenities and tourist food and drink are two separate components of hospitality services.
Hospitality services: The hospitality services include the travel and tourism industry, event management services, hotels and other lodging, leisure activities, and restaurants. The services provided by the hospitality industry are not constrained by time restrictions, shifts in working hours, or other forms of time measurement because they are consumable and intangible in nature. There are several lodging options, including hotels, resorts, and seasonal camping grounds. On the other side, the supply of hospitality also includes the provision of transportation systems, recreational amenities, and various tourist attractions. (2010) Warin, Diamant, and Pfenning
Task 2
2.1 Analyse the implications of integration to the hospitality industry. You should include a range of examples from the hospitality industry.
Integration of hospitality services: The process by which organisations or businesses can increase their market share and boost their profits through the creation of a specific product can be referred to as integration. The organisation has repeatedly gone through the integration processes in order to be profitable. The company must acknowledge the operations and procedures that are intertwined with integration. The organisation in the hotel industry can expand its product line by using the integration strategy, regardless of whether it was previously tied to the company’s operations or not. (2010) Busby and Gibson The hospitality industry has adopted integration approach in order to provide better services and maintain its current consumer base.
Integration comes in two flavours:
The presence of numerous diverse departments or organisations under one primary management is known as horizontal integration.
Vertical integration is the process of offering a variety of products through a single supply chain that has multiple management systems developing various items. (2010) Busby and Gibson
Effects of integration in the hotel industry Organizations in the hotel industry have been integrating horizontally. They only provide one kind of merchandise. For the purpose of expanding the expansion of their firm, the organisation should employ this integration approach to merge their services with those of other related sectors. (Teng, 2011)
Task 3
3.1 Develop a rationale for a selected project clearly justifying decisions linked to target market
The target market of the organisation must be studied in order to establish the justification for the chosen project. The justification can be effectively produced by analysing the target market and the essential placement techniques for the services inside this market. In this regard, the hotel’s location must be determined because it can affect both the type of vacation destination and the cost and availability of resources. (2012) Yiu and Law Males and females of various ages must be the hotel’s target market. The target market might range from those with higher income levels to those in the middle because the hotel has been created in a location that has been recognised as the most popular leisure destination.
3.2 Develop a plan for a hospitality business which includes the operational requirements of the business’ organisational structure in relation to human resource allocation.
The operating needs of the company, the organisational structure, and the distribution of human resources must all be taken into account when developing a strategy for the hospitality industry. Different stages, such as development, design, and operations, are included in the new company project. 2016 (Getz and Page)
Business concept: The business concept includes the overall idea driving the organisation, as well as its vision and mission statements, objectives, and goals. The new project’s overarching goal is the business’s expansion. The purposes behind these objectives are to put the new project in a favourable position within the competitive market. The objectives of the new project are to engage the talents and competences for attaining the project goal. 2016 (Getz and Page) The goal of the new project is to provide clients with better, more professional services.
